Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School, as a ministry of the larger community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, embraces stewardship in the form of contributing our time, talent, and treasure to the school and its success is dependent upon the volunteer efforts of the parent and parish community.

The volunteer opportunities that are available throughout the school year are listed below, and your support is truly appreciated. Thank you.

After-School Athletics

Volunteers help coach OLMC sports activities by coordinating games and practices for a team of their choice: 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and flag football. The commitment is generally 3 times a week with a flexible schedule. Support our OLMC athletes as they develop a love of sports, while learning to work as a team.

Art Masterpiece

Parents who appreciate art and enjoy working in the classroom volunteer for Art Masterpiece. You’ll learn about the program and it will enable you to pass on your appreciation of art to our students.

Big G Box Tops for Education

Clip Box Tops from packages with the "Box Tops for Education" logo. Box Top volunteers help to cut and package box tops for mailing. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ for OLMC. More information and a list of qualifying products at

Dads' Club

Meet other dads who want to have fun while contributing to the betterment of the school and our OLMC community. Signature events include the Back-to-School BBQ, Father/Daughter dance, hamburger booth at the annual parish Festival, End-of-Year BBQ and other various projects throughout the year. More information can be found here.

Field Day

Do you enjoy positive, healthy outdoor fun and competition? Then join the volunteers who help plan and coordinate Field Day, which takes place during Catholic Schools Week (usually held on the Tuesday the last week of January). Volunteers man stations and hand out water and snacks.

SCRIP Program

Want to support OLMC's primary fundraising effort? OLMC sells gift cards/scrip for your favorite grocery stores, restaurants and other retail stores. Volunteers are needed to sell SCRIP 15-20 minutes before and after weekend Mass. More information can be found here.

Helping Hands

Here is an opportunity to help out families during time of unexpected stress or great bundles of joy. Volunteers make dinner for a family who is experiencing a difficult time due to illness, bereavement, or has just had a baby.

Home Room Parent

Assist the teacher in planning classroom celebrations and miscellaneous events throughout the year.

Hospitality Committee

In affiliation with Home & School, volunteers for the hospitality committee plan and host several events throughout the year for the teachers and OLMC families. Many hands are needed for this committee, so if you are available to assist with one event or several, we are happy to welcome you.

Junior High Activities

7th Grade - Volunteers manage the pizza fundraiser, decorate for 8th grade graduation reception, serve as chaperones at the graduation dance and much, much more.

8th Grade - Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas: Fall Retreat, Jr. High Christmas Brunch, Spring Retreat, May Crowning DVD, Graduation Mass DVD, Graduation Dinner Dance, 8th Grade Class DVD, car wash, and many other areas as needed.

Lost & Found Program

Another lost lunchbox or uniform shirt?  Helpers are needed to collect and return items that young ones leave behind.

This national coaching and competition program is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Students meet after school, participate in a local meet, and may eventually go to a state as well as a national competition. More information can be found here.

Nurse's Office

The OLMC Nurse's Office is looking for volunteers to help keep our children healthy. If you enjoy nurturing or have a minimal amount of first aid experience, why not volunteer some time to the Nurse's Office? Lunchtime volunteers are particularly needed.

Playground Supervision (PALS)

Help ensure a safe and fun play environment for our children by serving as a playground supervisor. Volunteers are needed before school and at lunch recess.

School Library

Library volunteers check in and re-shelf returned books. When classes come in, they hand out library cards, keep the library neat and organized, and run the circulation desk, checking out books to the students.

School Office

Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (times are flexible). Volunteers answer phones, relieve office staff for lunch, and perform simple data entry and other administrative duties.

Volunteers are needed to help educate classes/school about how math, science, education and businesses use technology and the impact it has from the past, present and future.

St. Vincent de Paul

OLMC has monthly classroom collections of specific food or personal care items to be distributed to those in need. The committee works with the OLMC Student Council to collect all donated items from each classroom at the end of the month, and the items are then delivered to St. Vincent de Paul.

Used Uniform Sales

Due to the overwhelming response of families contributing to and purchasing the used school uniforms, a committee has been created to organize this service. Volunteers are needed to be present at the sales and assist. Uniform sales will take place at orientation and periodically after school throughout the year.
