Parent Volunteer Opportunities
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School, as a ministry of the larger community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, embraces stewardship in the form of contributing our time, talent, and treasure to the school and its success is dependent upon the volunteer efforts of the parent and parish community.
The volunteer opportunities that are available throughout the school year are listed below, and your support is truly appreciated. Thank you.
LOG YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURSAfter-School Athletics
Volunteers help coach OLMC sports activities by coordinating games and practices for a team of their choice: 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and flag football. The commitment is generally 3 times a week with a flexible schedule. Support our OLMC athletes as they develop a love of sports, while learning to work as a team.
Art Masterpiece
Parents who appreciate art and enjoy working in the classroom volunteer for Art Masterpiece. You’ll learn about the program and it will enable you to pass on your appreciation of art to our students.
Dads' Club
Meet other dads who want to have fun while contributing to the betterment of the school and our OLMC community. Signature events include the Back-to-School BBQ, Father/Daughter dance, hamburger booth at the annual parish Festival, End-of-Year BBQ and other various projects throughout the year. More information can be found here.
Field Day
Do you enjoy positive, healthy outdoor fun and competition? Then join the volunteers who help plan and coordinate Field Day, which takes place during Catholic Schools Week (usually held on the Tuesday the last week of January). Volunteers man stations and hand out water and snacks.
Home Room Parent
Assist the teacher in planning classroom celebrations and miscellaneous events throughout the year.
Lost & Found Program
Another lost lunchbox or uniform shirt? Helpers are needed to collect and return items that young ones leave behind.
Nurse's Office
The OLMC Nurse's Office is looking for volunteers to help keep our children healthy. If you enjoy nurturing or have a minimal amount of first aid experience, why not volunteer some time to the Nurse's Office? Lunchtime volunteers are particularly needed.
Playground Supervision (PALS)
Help ensure a safe and fun play environment for our children by serving as a playground supervisor. Volunteers are needed before school and at lunch recess.
School Library
Library volunteers check in and re-shelf returned books. When classes come in, they hand out library cards, keep the library neat and organized, and run the circulation desk, checking out books to the students.
School Office
Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (times are flexible). Volunteers answer phones, relieve office staff for lunch, and perform simple data entry and other administrative duties.
STEM Day
Volunteers are needed to help educate classes/school about how math, science, education and businesses use technology and the impact it has from the past, present and future.
Used Uniform Sales
Due to the overwhelming response of families contributing to and purchasing the used school uniforms, a committee has been created to organize this service. Volunteers are needed to be present at the sales and assist. Uniform sales will take place at orientation and periodically after school throughout the year.
