Technology
Technology Commitment
We understand the importance of incorporating state-of-the-art technology in our classrooms and continually invest in programs to help our students succeed. We have invested in updated Google Chromebooks, wireless networking, and effective online resources including IXL and Membean.
1:1 Computing
Students in grades 6th through 8th grades now use Chromebook laptops to complete many of their assignments. Each student is assigned a Chromebook at the beginning of the school year which they can use at school and at home. By having a nearly bookless classroom, we give our students the opportunity to improve their skills in the following areas:
- Keyboarding skills
- Using online research resources
- Using computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Interactive learning opportunities
Students are able to access current tools and resources and integrate technology throughout their educational pursuits. They work collaboratively on project-based activities to enhance creativity, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving.
Chromebooks
Students in 4th and 5th grades use shared Chromebooks in the classroom for selected reading assignments, online math lessons, Internet research, and more. Students in kindergarten through 3rd grades have access to Touchscreen Chromebooks as part of their library sessions.
Accelerated Reader
To help students excel in reading, we participate in the Accelerated Reader online program. Students read books and complete quizzes online to evaluate reading comprehension. The program allows teachers to track progress, evaluate reading and comprehension issues, and provide targeted instruction to students. It also provides benchmarks to parents on the reading level of their children.
RenWeb
One of the key technology resources we offer school families is RenWeb. This online resource allows students and parents to access a variety of resources, including:
- Current grades
- Assignment status
- Upcoming tests, quizzes, and projects
- Attendance tracking
- Event calendars
- School directory
- Family financial statements/records
- Print necessary forms – such as sports authorization, used uniform sale tags, etc.
- Review documents – Handbook
Parents can also utilize iPhone/iPad apps to access RenWeb on mobile devices.
